life lately.

I haven't been doing much in the way of photography lately.  This is in part because I haven't been anywhere, but also because the weather has been grey and blah and I am just not inspired enough to bother battling with awful winter lighting (and awful basement flat lighting).  I've been trying to get into Instagram though, so I might as well share some aspects of life lately through that.

Been loving these beautiful crystal necklaces from Kiss the Future.  These are smoky quartz and pyrite and I am dying to order more from them once I've put a little more cash into savings.  The weather lately has been slightly less beautiful.  That photo is actually from December, I think, but it's pretty much still felt like that damn frequently recently.  As soon as I got dressed to go into town, it started chucking it down with rain today and I just thought, mmm better not.

The flat has felt really homely recently and (in spite of the messiness that seems to build up incredibly quickly) I'm always happy to come home to it.  This candle is one of my favourites at the moment.  I got it for Christmas and the scent itself is a little, uh, unseasonal?  But it's really beautiful and let's face it, autumn is better than spring anyway.  I'm also still in love with these faux fur cushions I got in the January sale - can you believe I got four for £4 each?  The octopus was a lovely birthday gift from Chris last year!

I'm not big on the socialising lately and I fell into one of my hermit spells over the past few months.  I haven't really made a great many friends since moving here and those that I did make I just didn't feel like seeing, but we recently went out and had a bunch of cocktails and a bit of a catch up.  I still really don't like bars, though, not that I was really expecting that to change.

One of the probably major changes of the past several months is the sudden amount of body mods I suddenly have.  These two cartilage piercings (I have a third on the other ear) finally healed and after a vicious battle of epic proportions with the closed ball rings I had in when I got them pierced, I changed them to these cool blackline studs.  I prefer how rings look, but these are so much more comfortable to wear to sleep and the scarring I was getting disappeared once I changed them.

I've also been doing a bit of baking again, and the banana loaf that followed this photo was one I was particularly proud of because it turned out perfectly and I didn't use the measuring scales at all because the battery conked out!

I've been really getting into cruelty free and natural skincare and cosmetics and these are some of my latest purchases.  I got a mini haul from PHB Ethical Beauty that I'll be reviewing later, along with this Lily Lolo haul of some of their new pressed eyeshadows, concealer, a loose shadow, and their eye pencils with a new and improved formula.  It's costing me a hell of a lot more to be buying stuff like this, but I must say my skin is thanking me and I know I'll feel better about it in the long run.

And finally, these are the two main views I've been experiencing lately.  After a long week at work, I have been spending plenty of lazy days at home in bed with cups of tea or curled up on the sofa watching some of my favourite shows and movies.
